I am very pleased to advise you that The Hulbert Memorial Society was awarded Oesol Award for 2017.
Oesol Award is a very renowned and honorable award for scholars and cultural advocates in Korea.
​Oesol is a penname for Choe HyunBae who is one of the most renowned Hangeul(Korean alphabet) advocates in Korea.
He, who was a professor of Yonsei University, published whole Korean school textbooks in Korean alphabet without Chinese character in completeness
under U.S. military government in 1945 after the liberation of Korea from Japan.
He was in jail for three years for teaching Korean language in 1942 under Japanese colonial government which banned the use of Korean language.
I want to share the glory of this award with all of you who are giving big supports to the Society.
